This July, MacLean Hearing Centre promoted its very first "Give the Gift of Hearing" contest to residents of Cape Breton.

As the Owner and Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist of MacLean Hearing Centre, I’ve been working with individuals with hearing loss for over 30 years. It is very rewarding to have someone smile at you and tell you that they haven't heard like this for a very long time.

The "Give the Gift of Hearing" contest received an overwhelming response. The contest was promoted on Facebook and encouraged users to nominate a loved one or themselves for a chance to win Livio® AI hearing aids!

We had the tough job of reviewing each entry and picking one lucky winner from a collection of entries. After spending countless hours reading every story, a winner emerged. The winner of the contest was Joan Kowalczyk!

Joan was nominated by her granddaughter Whitney for playing a significant role in her and her siblings' lives. Joan raised Whitney and her two siblings after raising nine children of her own. At 82 years young, Joan is an active and self-sufficient individual with significant hearing loss.

It was a pleasure fitting Joan with hearing aids! We hope the hearing aids help Joan hear the sound of autumn’s rustling leaves, the laughter of her children and grandchildren and to connect with her friends and family.
